Stio, a direct-to-consumer mountain apparel brand, will bring an artist from its hometown of Jackson Hole, WY, to its store in Chicago next week to kick off a series of events aimed at promoting its brand.
At the event in Chicago, Ben Roth will share his creative process, techniques and problem-solving methods in conjunction with a do-it-yourself workshop called Scraptacular. A materials artist working in the reclaimed and recycled materials medium, Roth focuses on conservation as well as aesthetics when creating his work.
Hosted by Chicago art nonprofit Rebuilding Exchange, Scraptacular will provide materials for attendees to create their own original recycled art while they enjoy a wine tasting and light fare from Tenzing Wines.
“We are excited to launch our Mountain Studio Series with events curated to highlight the people, art, photography, music and video that capture and project the soul of the mountain lifestyle we value so deeply at Stio,” said Stio Founder and CEO Stephen Sullivan. “The Stio Mountain Studio, our brand concept store, which opened earlier this year, is a place people can come to find and connect with the mountain lifestyle that our brand represents. Ben Roth is a perfect ambassador to launch our new event series and communicate Stio’s values to a new audience.”
The event starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, at the Stio Mountain Studio Chicago, located at 1719 N. Damen Ave., Chicago, IL 60647. All Mountain Studio Series events are free to the public.
Stio began selling its “mountain town style meets backcountry performance” apparel online in 2012. Today it sells direct via its Stio Mountain Studio retail stores in Jackson Hole and Chicago, Stio catalogs and the Stio website.
