Kohl’s Department Stores disclosed that it will carry Coleman tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, coolers, and accessories at its stores nationwide as part of its Make Your Move initiative, which seeks to use active lifestyle products to draw more people into its stores.
The department store had already disclosed plans to expand its selection of Columbia products at select store locations starting this spring. Last week it said that would include “family apparel solutions including, hiking and footwear gear for camping and swimming.”
The retailer, which operates 1,164 stores in 49 states, kicked off its health and wellness initiative in the fourth quarter of 2014, when it gave Fila, Adidas and Nike a bigger presence at its stores over the holidays. The initiative calls for offering more national running, yoga, outdoor and consumer electronics brands to help families fulfill their health and wellness goals.
Last week, the retailer said it will launch a new line of yoga products developed in partnership with Gaiam Inc. on April 23. Designed specifically for Kohl’s, the collection is priced from $30-$65 and will offer yoga apparel including yoga fit tops and bottoms. Kohl’s began offering Gaiam accessories including, yoga mats, blocks, straps and more, in fall 2014, at Kohl’s stores nationwide and Kohls.com.
Last month, Kohl's began carrying more than 200 items from its in-house activewear line at its stores nationwide. The Tek Gear Plus line, which had only been available online consists of tees, shorts, pants, capris, jackets and tanks and will be available in sizes up to 3X.
Last week, Kohl's said it will expand its online assortment of sporting gear including, bikes, basketball hoops, golf equipment, skates and trampolines from reputable national brands like Nike, Schwinn, Spalding, Rawlings, Wilson and more.
