Nike Inc. has severed ties with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson after his plea agreement to a misdemeanor assault charge over striking his 4-year-old son. Nike previously suspended Petersons endorsement contract in September.

“Adrian Peterson is no longer a Nike athlete,” said a Nike statement.

In a plea agreement Tuesday in Texas, Peterson pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of misdemeanor reckless assault. He was fined $4,000 and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.
