SnowSports Industries America along with Protect Our Winters (POW) on Sept. 19 gathered Portland, OR-based media and snow sports industry leaders to mix, mingle and learn about snow-related topics from both organizations before the Portland premier of Jeremy Jones film Higher.
Protect Our Winters Founder and President, Jeremy Jones, brought the group up-to-speed on development at the organization, while SIAs Western Sales and Marketing Manager Dave Wray shared regional trends and participation numbers..
“Were honored that SIA invited us to participate in this event, to speak to the local media about the inescapable effects of climate change being felt by us all in the snow sports community, and what POW is doing to help fight it,” said Jones, who has taken POW’s message on climate change and its impact on winter sports all the way to the White House. “Were excited to continue the discussion with SIA in other markets this fall.”
Following the party, media were invited to the nearby Aladdin Theatre to view the premier of Jones film Higher.
Portland has a super tight-knit snow sports community that overlaps on so many levels – its always great to get everyone together and support people like Jeremy who does so much for the industry and the environment, Wray said.
SIA and POW will gather media and industry leaders to mix, mingle and talk SNOW again at San Franciscos Snowbomb Festival on Nov. 1 and during the Boston.com Ski & Snowboard Expo on Nov. 14.
