Therm-a-Rest announced it will use fluorocarbon-free Nikwax Hydrophobic Down (NHD) in some of its 2015 down sleeping bag collection.
Third-party lab reports indicate that products made with NHD absorb substantially less water, retain more loft, dry faster, and withstand repeat washing better than any other fluorocarbon-free treatment on the market. The European goose down is sourced from U.S.-based Downlite, which adheres to an ethical supply chain practice and a bluesign-certified manufacturing process.
In 2015 Therm-a-Rest is introducing two women’s-specific NHD sleeping bags, the Antares HD and Mira HD incorporating the new hydrophobic down product. Both bags have an EN Limit rating of 9 degrees Celsius (15 degrees Fahrenheit) and weigh under two pounds each.
