Therm-a-Rest announced it will use fluorocarbon-free Nikwax Hydrophobic Down (NHD) in some of its 2015 down sleeping bag collection.

Third-party lab reports indicate that products made with NHD absorb substantially less water, retain more loft, dry faster, and withstand repeat washing better than any other fluorocarbon-free treatment on the market. The European goose down is sourced from U.S.-based Downlite, which adheres to an ethical supply chain practice and a bluesign-certified manufacturing process.

In 2015 Therm-a-Rest is introducing two women’s-specific NHD sleeping bags, the Antares HD and Mira HD incorporating the new hydrophobic down product.  Both bags have an EN Limit rating of –9 degrees Celsius (15 degrees Fahrenheit) and weigh under two pounds each.
