Sears Same-Store Sales for June Off 1.8%

Sears, Roebuck and Co. announced that comparable domestic store revenues decreased 1.8% for the five weeks ended July 5, 2003. Total domestic store revenues were $2.6 billion in June 2003, compared with $2.7 billion for the five weeks ended July 6, 2002.

“Overall, sales results for the month were in line with expectations,” said Chairman and CEO Alan J. Lacy. “Lawn and garden continued to perform strongly across all formats in the month, while a stronger promotional stance contributed to improved trends in apparel.”
