Worldwide Elects Members to Board of Directors

Worldwide, the independent retailer buying group, announced elections to their board of directors with new and
returning members. Charlie Grigg of Grigg’s Enterprises in Pasco, WA, a
long-time member, has returned to serve on the board for a three-year
term after a nearly 20 year hiatus. “I’m happy to be back on the
Worldwide Board. It’s been part of our business family since 1955. ”
states Mr. Grigg. Craig Smith of Smith & Edwards in Ogden, UT, was
appointed on the board for the first time. “I am excited and honored to
be a part of a great group of people,” notes Mr. Smith.  “Worldwide is a
key asset to our business and I look forward to serving the group and
its members any way possible.”

Worldwide shareholders
overwhelmingly approved second three-year terms for current board
members Tony Klamm of Wyoming Work Warehouse in Gillette, WY and Wayne
Petrus of Tyner Petrus in Monroe, LA.

“I am humbled to be
re-elected to my second term and look forward to serving the entire
membership and Worldwide.  The friendships and networking opportunities
during the first term were priceless for me personally and for my
business!” said Petrus.

Worldwide also honored the retirement of
Board Member and past Chairman, Brent Dennis of Dennis Company in
Raymond, Washington. Brent has served on the board several times over
the years.

Dennis noted that, “As I look back on the years I
served on the Worldwide board I can’t think of any other organization
that I would rather been a part of.  When you surround yourself with
great people you learn from them.  Everyone at Worldwide is there to
help each other succeed, make the correct buying decision and in turn, a
profitable business. That knowledge sharing was only stronger within
the board membership.”

Elected Worldwide Board Members serve a
three-year term and can serve two consecutive terms. Currently the board
consists of 13 members who represent a wide spectrum of retail
geography and store size.

Worldwide has elected three member owners to the company’s board of directors.  Monty Rostad, co-operator of three retail stores in Alaska; Miles Hall, founder and president of H & H Gun Range in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and returning long-time member of Worldwide Cooperative, Jim Smith, family owner of Smith & Edwards in Ogden, Utah.


Monty Rostad’s stores in Fairbanks, Anchorage and Kodiak, Alaska, long-time members of Worldwide since 1955, specialize in workwear, outerwear and footwear. They have a full service catalog that serves the remote communities of Alaska and a safety clothing operation that services the oil industry. Married 22 years with two children, Monty enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, history, music and plays guitar in a rock n roll band.


Miles Hall started the Range in 1981 as an educational and retail facility for developing and promoting the shooting sports industry. He was a founding member and serves as Past President of the National Association of Shooting Ranges, a founding member of the National Association of Firearm Retailers, past board member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation and was named “2004 Retailer of the Year” by Shot Business Magazine. In 2006 H & H was also selected for the first “Range of the Year” honor. Miles has been married to Jayne for over 28 years with three children and five grand children.


Jim Smith, another long-time member of Worldwide since 1976, has rejoined the board of directors for another three-year term. Smith & Edwards, in modest beginnings, sold surplus to farmers and ranchers. Times have changed and the army barracks is now a 130,000 square foot unique retail destination experience. It’s family roots run deep with three generations of family and 90 great associates. Jim Smith is president of Smith & Edwards and also serves Ogden Pioneer Heritage Foundation, Ogden/Weber Convention visitors Bureau, Utah Better Business Bureau, and recognized by W.E.S.A with the Top Hand Award.
