Thule announced that starting Oct. 1 it will sell the Chariot line of bike trailers and child carriers under the name Thule Chariot as part of a broader strategy to launch its new Active with Kids category.

The rebranding of the Chariot line, which Thule acquired in 2011, to Thule Chariot is one of the first visible steps in Thule’s entry into the new product category, which is aimed at facilitating an active lifestyle for families with kids.

“There is a natural fit between Chariots more than 20 years’ experience in child carrying solutions and Thule,” said Thule Group’s CEO and President Magnus Welander. “We are dedicated to develop the ‘Active with Kids’ category over the coming years, in the same successful way as we have developed new products and categories in the bike and sport and outdoor categories for more than 70 years.

Thule exhibited the first two new products in the line – Thule Coaster (shown at right) and Thule Cadence – at Eurobike 2013 in Friedrichshafen, Germany in late August and again at the Interbike show in Las Vegas last week. The Thule Coaster converts from a bike trailer to a stroller while the two-seat Thule Cadence does not. Both trailers use Thule’s patented ezHitch system to connect to a bike.
