The May Department Stores Company has named Andrew T. Hall chairman of Foley’s, its department store division based in Houston. His appointment is effective immediately. Mr. Hall succeeds Mark J. Weikel. Andrew P. Pickman, 51, continues as president and chief executive officer of Foley’s.

In making the announcement, May President John L. Dunham said, “We are very fortunate to have an executive of Andy’s expertise and accomplishments to assume this important position at Foley’s. He brings nearly 10 years of experience in our financial and operations functions to this position. Drew Pickman and Andy will be a strong management team for this division that operates 67 stores in five states and had sales of $2.0 billion in fiscal 2002.”

Mr. Hall, 42, joined May in 1993 as director of financial reporting at the company’s corporate office in St. Louis, and in 1994, he was promoted to vice president of accounting and reporting. In 1998, Mr. Hall was named vice president of store operations at Hecht’s, May’s department store division headquartered in Washington, D.C., and in 1999 was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Kaufmann’s, the department store division formerly based in Pittsburgh. He was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Foley’s in 2002.

William P. McNamara, May’s vice chairman for stores, added, “Andy’s experience in key positions at three May divisions will help Foley’s continue to deliver exceptional value and customer service.”
