London Fog Industries will separate its three primary divisions–Pacific Trail, London Fog Trade and London Fog Factory Outlet Stores–into independently managed businesses. According to London Fog Industries President and Chief Executive Officer, William Dragon, Jr., the initiative is designed to support the growth of all our brands through individual leadership and dedicated resources.

“Our main objective is to provide the London Fog Brand Trade Division with a more dedicated and vertically integrated operational structure to support its growth initiatives, while concurrently providing the dedicated resources required for our Pacific Trail business and its brands to continue on its successful growth path,” said Dragon.

Dragon added, “Over the past eight years, the Pacific Trail Division has demonstrated a proven track record of growth and profitability. We will continue to seek opportunities to invest in, and grow this business. London Fog, the #1 most recognized outerwear and rainwear brand as reported by Women’s Wear Daily’s most recent Bi-Annual Top 100 Brand survey report, is well positioned to capitalize on this high level of consumer awareness.”

The new Pacific Trail Division will remain headquartered in Seattle and will include all of Pacific Trail’s current brands; Pacific Trail®, Black Dot®, Moonstone®, Roffe, the Dockers® licensed brand, as well as a number of Pacific Trail Factory Stores and the ownership of the London Fog trademark and management of its licensees. As CEO, Bill Dragon will continue to direct and oversee all operations of the business, while Gary Hansen will remain as President of Pacific Trail.

Under the restructure, the London Fog Trade Division moves from Seattle to the East with offices in New York and Toronto, Canada. This Division will become the responsibility of Richard McCaffery, where he’ll direct and manage the merchandising, design, marketing, sales and customer service operations. McCaffery comes to the position with vast international experience in retail, apparel and textiles, with extensive knowledge of the London Fog brand.

He is a principal in McCaffery & Company, a management consulting company specializing in identifying and implementing growth initiatives for branded consumer businesses. In addition, McCaffery has held senior marketing positions with Avon Products, The Limited Stores, American Express and DFS Group Ltd., the world’s largest duty-free retailer.

Headquartered in Fairfield, Connecticut, The London Fog Factory Outlet Store Division will be under the leadership of Christopher H. “Toby” Smith. Smith, who served as a chairman of the London Fog Industries board during 1999, has been the chief executive officer for a number of industrial, high tech and apparel businesses, including Escada and Puma. He has also been a practicing attorney and partner in several national law firms.

Dragon added that the transition will be implemented immediately. The leadership team is in the process of finalizing the details of how individual businesses will be restructured and resized.
