Hillerich & Bradsby Co., the parent of Louisville Slugger, has promoted Terry Nelson to treasurer/controller.
Nelson has been with the company since 2008 and previously served as controller. Since arriving at H&B, he has been instrumental in working with the CFO and financial staff to implement profit center accounting, profitability analysis and standard costing, as well as revamping the financial reporting system.
“Terry's financial acumen is a great asset to our team,” said John Hillerich IV, H&B's CEO. “He has more than 20 years of experience, and we’re fortunate to have him at H&B. His expanded role will provide an even greater opportunity for him to contribute.”
Nelson came to H&B from Arkema Chemicals, where he worked for three years in chemical manufacturing. He also spent 15 years at Zeon Chemicals as plant accountant/plant controller. During his tenure at these two companies, Nelson acquired 12+ years of SAP experience and honed his skills in costing, financial reporting, inventory, profit center accounting, cost center accounting and profitability analysis in SAP.
Nelson graduated from the University of Illinois in 1986, where he received a BS in Accounting, and passed his CPA exam in 1987. He spent two years in public accounting before making a move to the world of manufacturing.
He and his wife Cynthia have two children and one granddaughter.
