Russell Corporation announced that Benjamin Russell will retire as a member of its Board of Directors at the company’s annual meeting in April 2003. Russell, 65, has been a member of the board since 1963.
“We appreciate the time and commitment Ben has given the company for more than 40 years. His personal and professional relationship with Russell has provided us with a unique perspective,” said Jack Ward, chairman and CEO. “Ben has been able to offer a sense of the company’s past and a strong connection to the foundation of Russell as we have worked to move the company forward.”
Russell is the grandson of the company’s founder, Benjamin Russell. He is chairman and CEO of Russell Lands, a land holding and development company with a variety of business interests in east central Alabama.
