J.C. Penney Corporation, Inc. announced the appointment of Lana Cain Krauter, 51, as Executive Vice President and General Merchandise Manager, Men’s and Children’s Division. She will report to Vanessa Castagna, JCP Chairman and Chief CEO of JCPenney Stores, Catalog and Internet.
Previously, Krauter was President and Chief Merchandising Officer of Goody’s Family Clothing in Knoxville, Tenn. “Lana brings to JCPenney a full breadth and depth of merchandise expertise and leadership to direct the Men’s and Children’s Divisions,” Castagna said. “In particular, she knows how to grow a business, strengthen private brands and shares our commitment to the customer.”
Krauter joined Goody’s Family Clothing in 2000 after more than 8 years with Sears Merchandise Group where she was Senior Vice President, Women’s Ready-to-Wear, Intimate Apparel, Accessories, and Sears Import Organization from 1995-2000. Before holding positions of increasing responsibility at Sears, her retailing experience encompassed leadership positions with companies headquartered in Texas: Stage Stores, Inc., and Joske’s. She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
Krauter replaces William Cappiello, who has resigned to spend more time with his family. “We thank Bill for his many contributions and wish him well in his future efforts,” Castagna said.
