Eddie Bauer announced a coast-to-coast coat drive in partnership with One Warm Coat, the only national non-profit organization that works with local agencies to distribute donated coats for free, to people in need.
From October 1 through November 21, Eddie Bauer retail stores in eight cities from coast-to-coast will dedicate days to collecting coats and raising awareness for those in need in their local communities. At certain locations, visitors will be able to check out the Eddie Bauer First Ascent custom Airstream trailer, which has traveled around the country with First Ascent guides testing new mountaineering and ski gear. People who donate a used coat on-site will receive a 20% discount coupon from Eddie Bauer.
“Eddie Bauer knew more than anyone that a jacket can save a life. In fact, he patented the first down jacket in the U.S. after nearly freezing to death on a fishing trip,” said Neil Fiske, president and CEO of Eddie Bauer. “In partnering with One Warm Coat, we hope to raise awareness about the increasing need for this basic necessity and impact communities where our stores are located.”
Eddie Bauer will kick off the multi-city tour in Boston, Mass., on October 1, 2010 and will post milestone updates via Facebook and Twitter. Collection dates are as follows:
October 1 -3: Boston, Massachusetts
October 8-10: Detroit, Michigan

October 22-24: Salt Lake City, Utah
October 29-30: Chicago, Illinois
