Skullcandy has hired Mitch Edwards as its chief financial officer and general counsel. Operating out of the company's Park City headquarters, Edwards is responsible for driving Skullcandy's financial and legal strategy as the company grows domestically and internationally. Skullcandy is one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States.
“We are excited to have a veteran CFO such as Mitch join the Skullcandy executive team. As we continue to rapidly expand our operations and product lines, the financial and legal challenges we face are complex and international,” said Rick Alden, CEO of Skullcandy. “Mitch's background in finance, law and emerging growth companies will give us the hands-on expertise we need to become a dominant global lifestyle brand.”
“I am stoked to join one of the most exciting companies in the world,” said Edwards. â€Having followed Skullcandy's meteoric progress the past few years, I have the greatest admiration for Rick and Jeremy. They have created a dynamic company that breaks boundaries and sets new standards in the youth lifestyle and action sports industries. The team they have assembled is as impressive as any management team I have seen in two decades and I'm excited to be a part of it as we continue our worldwide growth.”
Edwards brings to Skullcandy more than 20 years of experience in executive management, corporate finance, law and international expansion. Most recently, he was CFO and General Counsel of BitTorrent, Inc., one of the world's largest distributed software companies. He also directed the company's high-level strategy with the FCC and the highly-publicized 'net neutrality' movement. Prior to joining BitTorrent, Edwards served as CFO and GC of several technology companies, including Groxis, VFC Technologies and Ikano Communications.
Edwards began his career in law, where he was a Partner at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in Los Angeles, which at the time the largest law firm in the country specializing in emerging growth companies. Additionally, he has been deeply involved in the action sports entertainment industry, having produced several feature-length award-winning action sports films as owner of Dog on a Bike Films.
