Steven Madden, Ltd. outlined in a regulatory filing the resignations of Karla Frieders, chief merchandising officer, and Robert Smith, company director.

Madden said Frieders, the footwear firm’s chief merchandising officer since September 2015, resigned, effective June 30, for personal reasons and not the result of any disagreement with the company. The company does not intend to appoint a new chief merchandising officer at this time, with certain of Frieders’ responsibilities assumed by other members of the company’s management.

Frieders served as Madden’s president of retail from January 2013 and vice president of retail from October 2009 until January 2013. Before these roles, Frieders had held various buying positions at the company since 1999.

Smith submitted his voluntary resignation as a director of the company to pursue another opportunity, effective July 14. Smith’s resignation is also not the result of any disagreement with the company. In light of Smith’s departure from the Board, the Board will reduce its size from 11 members to 10 members, effective July 14, 2025.

Smith has been on Madden’s Board since 2014.
