Adidas appointed Vijay Chauhan, most recently SVP International at American Eagle Outfitters, as general manager for India, effective August 1. Chauhan succeeds Neelendra Singh, who is stepping down after more than two decades with Adidas.

Chauhan will oversee operations in India based out of the Gurugram office. He has over 25 years of industry experience, including a 20-year tenure at Adidas from 1999 to 2019. His last role at Adidas was as VP of Retail and Franchise for SEAPAC and general manager of Thailand. He also held sales roles in India.

Singh’s tenure is marked by significant milestones, including establishing cricket as a key focus category for the brand and redefining India’s cricket jersey culture, strengthening brand relevance and accelerating commercial growth. Singh, who has led Adidas India since 2019, will continue in his current role through July to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

Dave Thomas, managing director of Adidas Emerging Markets, said, “We’re grateful to Neel for his strong leadership of the India business over the past six years, during which he significantly strengthened Adidas’ brand presence, accelerated business growth, and deepened our connection with consumers across India. We also look forward to welcoming Vijay back to the three stripes. With his strong commercial acumen and growth mindset, I’m confident he will continue to drive the Adidas brand and business forward in India.”
