Fleet Feet announced the opening of its newest store in Leander, TX, marking the third franchise location in the state for owner Mark King.

King opened his first Fleet Feet store in Round Rock, TX, in 2013, followed by a second location in Georgetown, TX, in 2022.

A former industrial construction worker, King found his passion for the run specialty industry in 2009 while working part-time at a specialty running store in The Woodlands. He approached Fleet Feet, Inc. about franchising in 2012 and opened his first store the following year.

“Fleet Feet has always been about helping people move with confidence and purpose,” said King. “Leander is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas, and I’m excited to bring our personalized outfitting experience and community-focused approach to this area.”

As with King’s other two stores, Fleet Feet Leander will serve as a community hub, offering group runs, training programs and social events. Since 2013, King has organized an annual Turkey Trot in Round Rock, TX, which draws roughly 2,000 participants and raises funds for local nonprofits.

“Mark’s dedication to customer service, his passion for active living and his impact on the community have made him a standout franchisee,” said Jason Jabaut, chief operating officer at Fleet Feet. “We’re proud to see his continued growth and excited to welcome more people in the Hill Country into the Fleet Feet family.”

King will host a grand opening for the Leander store on June 28.

Founded in 1976, Fleet Feet has over 280 stores across 40 states, with its headquarters in Carrboro, NC.
