Adidas appointed Marcus Morent as the new managing director of Adidas Korea. He succeeds Peter Kwak, who resigned due to family reasons.

Morent, an Austrian national, began his Adidas career in 2005 in the retail finance institutional sector for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region. He later led the retail and e-commerce businesses at Adidas Korea from 2014 to 2019, serving as VP of Latin America, DTC, and, most recently, as CEO of Adidas Colombia.

According to a statement from Adidas Korea, the appointment of Morent is a “strategic step to solidify its continued growth in Korea.” The company also noted Morent’s appointment as a “significant milestone that reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to and high expectations for the Korean market.”

The company credited Peter Kwak with playing “a pivotal role in transitioning Korea into a standalone market, overhauling the distribution structure and returning the company to a strong growth trajectory.”

Adidas elevated Korea to a key standalone market, separate from the Asia Pacific region, in January 2024.

“As the new managing director with deep knowledge of and extensive experience in the Korean market, Morent will focus on further optimizing a consistent, consumer-centric Adidas brand experience and enhancing customer satisfaction through diverse retail channels and strategic marketing initiatives,” Adidas Korea said in a statement.
