Academy Sports + Outdoors has opened two new locations in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. and Midlothian, Virginia; and will open another new store in Morgantown, West Virginia later this month. The new openings come on the heels of the retailer surpassing 300 total stores in the first quarter.

Academy opened a total of 16 new stores in 10 different states in 2024, including its first store in Ohio, after opening 14 new stores across six different states in 2023. So far in 2025, Academy has opened seven new stores in six states including its first stores in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Combined, the three new stores are expected to bring nearly 200 total new jobs to their local communities.
Originally founded in 1938 as a family business in Texas, Academy has grown to more than 300 stores across 21 states.
