Pvolve, the functional strength training modality that uses resistance equipment to strengthen the whole body, has expanded its Clinical Advisory Board by adding Jessica Shepherd, MD, MBA, FACOG, as head of Medical Affairs.
Dr. Shepherd is a board-certified OB/GYN, a women’s health expert and a voice on longevity. In a media release, Pvovle also noted that she is “committed to redefining the perimenopause and menopause journey and is a trailblazer in taking a holistic approach to women’s health, aligning with Pvolve’s mission to empower women at all stages of life through innovative, science-backed wellness solutions.”
Dr. Shepherd will play a key role in advancing Pvolve’s mission of “developing programming and clinical research initiatives to ensure that Pvolve continues to provide evidence-based, results-driven solutions for women as they navigate the complexities of aging.”
“Building strong bodies as we age is essential to longevity, and exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have to achieve that,” said Dr. Shepherd. “Pvolve is not just redefining functional fitness; it’s creating an entirely new category that’s making a lasting impact. I’m excited to be part of this movement and help women thrive at every stage of life.”
As women age, they experience muscle loss, decreased bone density, and changes in body composition. Pvolve’s “holistic, clinically-proven approach to resistance training directly addresses these issues by building lean muscle, enhancing bone density and supporting metabolic health,” said the company. Pvolve further validates its “commitment to women’s health ” by its recently publishing Healthy Aging Study in the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise Journal, which highlights the “proven effectiveness of Pvolve’s method in improving strength, mobility and overall well-being for women ages 40 to 60, further solidifying the brand’s impact on this key demographic.”
“Pvolve is more than just a workout; we’re heavily invested in closing the gender research gap and advancing women’s health through innovation,” said Rachel Katzman, founder of Pvolve. “Starting with menopause — a vastly overlooked area — we’re showcasing the profound impact that movement can have in addressing the unique challenges women face as they age. Dr. Shepherd’s expertise will be instrumental in driving our mission forward, supporting women’s well-being, and expanding into other critical female health areas.”
In addition to a streaming membership service, Pvovle has studios in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, along with franchise locations in the U.S. and Canada.
