REI, the consumers’ co-operative, plans to relocate its Eugene, OR, store in early 2026 to The Oakway Center, one of three shopping malls in Eugene. The store’s larger footprint, at 30,120 square feet, will feature broader footwear, cycling and camping departments.

The 41 employees that work at the REI Eugene store can relocate to the new store in The Oakway Center. The retailer will make additional staffing decisions later this year.

“We’ve proudly served the Eugene community for more than three decades at our original location that today is one of the smallest in the country. Once open, REI Eugene will be the second largest store in the state, following our Beaverton location that opened last year,” said Bob Cagle, REI regional director.

“Our Oakway Center space will be one level and nearly 10,000 square feet larger than the current store, enabling an incredible experience for customers and staff through a highly accessible floor design, larger product assortments, improved dressing rooms, and ample warehouse space,” continued Cagle.

The store will also include a full-service bike shop, ski and snowboard shop, Re/Supply used gear, and apparel departments. Over 137,000-lifetime members reside in Eugene, and 988,000 members in the state.

REI’s other Oregon-based stores include Beaverton, Bend, Clackamas, Hillsboro, Medford, Salem-Keizer, and Tualatin. REI Re/Supply Clackamas opened in 2023, selling used outdoor gear and apparel.
