The RV Industry Association has reported that its December 2024 survey of manufacturers found a 6.6 percent increase in total RV shipments for the year, reaching 333,733 units, which was highlighted by a 7.6 percent year-over-year increase in December 2024 shipments with 23,153 units shipped compared to the 21,522 units shipped in December 2023.
“Despite challenges, the RV industry showed resilience and an upward trajectory in 2024 and continued to demonstrate its broad appeal to consumers,” said RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby. “These modest gains provide a solid foundation to build upon, and we are confident that with continued innovation and dedication to customer satisfaction, the RV industry will see even greater success in 2025.”
Towables, particularly Conventional Travel Trailers, continued to post a strong performance with an 11.4 percent increase in December shipments compared to the previous year, totaling 20,814 units. However, Motorhomes continued to have a tough go of it during the month, experiencing a 17.7 percent decline in December, with 2,339 units shipped.
December 2024 RV Wholesale Shipment Summary
Park Model RVs (PMRVs) saw a 5.0 percent increase in December shipments compared to the same month in 2023, with 273 wholesale shipments. However, PMRVs finished 2024 with a 22.3 percent decrease, totaling 3,927 shipments.
Interestingly, nearly 13 percent of all PMRV shipments in December were to North Carolina and South Carolina, both of which were hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Housing continues to be a significant issue for many who live in the storm’s path.
