The private organizers of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles named John Slusher, Nike’s long-tenured sports marketing EVP, as CEO of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Properties (USOPP), the entity that oversees the marketing and selling of commercial assets for the 2028 Games and the rights to Team USA through 2028.
Slusher is also responsible for supervising all LA28 and USOPP revenue, including domestic sponsorship, consumer products, hospitality, and ticket sales.
Nike issued a statement on Wednesday, October 30, after the market closed indicating that Ann Miller, the company’s executive vice president, chief legal officer and a 14-year Nike veteran, will replace Slusher as EVP of global sports marketing.
Slusher previously spent 26 years working at Nike, leading global sports marketing and overseeing relationships with the sportswear company’s athletes and properties. Slusher joined Nike in 1998 and held leadership positions in the EMEA and North America before taking the EVP of global sports marketing role in 2007.
“John’s expertise in the global sports industry is second to none,” said Casey Wasserman, LA28 president and chairperson. “He’s an excellent addition to the best-in-class team we’ve assembled to execute an Olympic and Paralympic Games unlike the world has ever seen.”
The 2023 Los Angeles Games are privately funded with revenue from corporate partners, licensing agreements, hospitality, ticketing programs, and a significant contribution from the International Olympic Committee.
