Stio reported it will open a new storefront in downtown Steamboat Springs, CO in late September, its eleventh retail location and second in Colorado.
“Steamboat Springs has long been on our radar. With its rich and historic ski culture and hard-charging mountain athletes, it is the perfect place to bring the Stio brand to life,” said Stephen Sullivan, founder and CEO. “We are excited to have world-class skiing, mountain biking, trail running, kayaking, and fly fishing just steps from our Mountain Studio’s front door, and look forward to hosting community events and partnering with local nonprofits to support and enrich this adventurous community.”
With the announcement, Stio recently hired Senior Director of Retail Kris Nelson, who brings over 20 years of experience in B2B and DTC sales to the brand. Before joining the company, Nelson was the VP of retail at Cotopaxi and director of U.S. retail and international sales at Newell Brands, leading the Marmot, Coleman and ExOfficio accounts. In his new role, Nelson will oversee the growth, performance and operations of Stio’s owned retail locations.
Natalie Oshin joined the company as merchandising director, reportedly bringing a “wealth of knowledge in merchandising and product assortment planning” from her past roles as a senior buyer and product line manager at FP Movement and global product line manager at The North Face. At Stio, Oshin leads the brand’s merchandising strategy to drive revenue, profitability and product efficiency across all sales channels.
