Golf Datatech, a subsidiary of Circana, reported that golf rounds played in the U.S. were up 1.2 percent in June and 2.0 percent in the first six months of 2024.
June’s gains marked an uptick after May’s rounds declined 0.8 percent. By region for the month, the most significant gains were in the Mid-Atlantic, up 7.2 percent and New England, 5.2 percent. Other regions that saw an increase in play during June included the South Atlantic, 2.5 percent and the Mountain region, 1.5 percent.
Declining regions for June included West North Central, down 4.1 percent; Pacific, 0.7 percent; and East North Central, 0.1 percent.
In the year-to-date period, the Mountain region had the biggest gain in golf rounds in June with a 7.4 percent increase, followed by East North Central, 5.5 percent; Pacific and West North Central, 4.5 percent; and Mid-Atlantic, 0.8 percent. The declining regions for the month included New England, down 2.1 percent; South Atlantic, down 2.1 percent; and South Central, down 0.3 percent.
U.S. golf rounds played grew 0.8 percent in April, jumping 21.2 percent in March and advanced 4.9 percent in February. Golf rounds declined 16.6 percent in January as rain impacted play in several regions nationwide.
