Black Diamond Equipment Ltd. said the new year has gotten off to a strong start with solid sell through of its skis and boots. The company said it has added a new grassroots marketing director and athelets, has launched multilinqual versions of its Web site for Europe and won a key award in China.

“Early indicators in 2010 are encouraging,” comments Peter Metcalf Black Diamond CEO. “Sell through on our Power Series skis and boots-specifically the Justice ski and Factor boot in Q4 has been exceptional. We have new additions to our global athlete team bolstering an already strong line up. We are launching multi-lingual versions of our website and recently won Gear of the Year for the Octane Backpack from Outside Magazine China.”

Black Diamond Equipment has hired TJ Kolanko as its new Grassroots Marketing Coordinator to handle events and sponsorships. Kolanko previously worked as the BD Sales and Dealer Service Manager and prior worked for Patagonia handling Pro Purchase and Grassroots Marketing.

New to the global Black Diamond team are athletes Sonnie Trotter and Adam Ondra. Trotter is one of the top all-around climbers in the world today with a mindset for bold, extremely difficult, bolt-free trad lines. Ondra is the future of sport climbing. With a host of 5.14 onsights and 5.15 redpoints as well as a recent world's-first-ever V13 flash, the 17-year-old Ondra has accomplished more in the last four years than any other sport climber-ever.
