Chief Upland acquired Q5 Outdoor Products, the upland hunting vests, clay shooting belts and accessories. Founded in 2011, Q5 boasts 100 percent Made in the USA products by a lifelong bird hunter.
Chief Upland said the company will build a full suite of technical upland hunting gear from head to toe. The acquisition of Q5 Outdoors reportedly expands the company’s brand from one upland vest style to more than six. The company also reported that it now has dialed-in gear offerings for hunting in every climate and pursuing all upland game types.
“Since day one of Chief, just a few short years ago, I’ve been building all of this for you—the entire upland hunting community,” said Jake Lindemann, founder and owner of Chief Upland. “Customers of both brands will benefit from the synergies between our product collections as we merge them into one full suite of complementary products. If you’re a technical outdoor gear junkie like me, you’ll want to come along on this journey over the next few months and years.”
Chief said it has built a loyal following and continues to promote community and conservation in the upland market.
“The original founder of Q5, Dan Priest, put a lot of thought and innovation into his products,” added Lindemann. “We’ve talked a few times over the years, and I can truly appreciate what he built from scratch with Q5 and Quilomene. I’m happy to call Dan a friend and very grateful to get the chance to carry the Q5 torch, in addition to the owners of the brand in between us. The market will be excited to see how we continue to advance and build out our Q5 Collection, and we invite all of our new and existing customers to join along on the journey. God seems to be always lighting the path for us when we least expect it.”
All Q5 products will be brought under the Chief Upland brand, made in the U.S. and updated gradually as new inventory is made. Chief noted it will continue to innovate with Q5 products over the next few years, complementing its existing Over/Under Vest system, and military-style Molle pouches will be functional on vests from both collections. Pouches will also be transferrable from one vest style to another in between hunts.
