Bauer Hockey announced that New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has joined Bauer Hockey's extensive roster of elite hockey players.
Lundqvist, who will wear newly designed goal equipment by Bauer Hockey during the upcoming NHL season, will be a featured goaltender in Bauer Hockey's global advertising efforts moving forward. In addition, Lundqvist will assist the company in its future development of elite-level goal equipment.
“I am extremely happy and excited to join the Bauer Hockey family and play a part in its resurgence as a leader in goaltender equipment,” Lundqvist said. “Bauer Hockey is focused solely on hockey and I've experienced that commitment first-hand. They are a large company with a lot of resources to make the best possible goal products. I look forward to assisting the entire team in any way that I can.”
Entering his fifth NHL season, the 27-year-old Lundqvist is considered one of the top goaltenders in the game. In his four seasons with the Rangers, Lundqvist has registered an impressive 2.31 goals against average and a .917 save percentage in 265 games. Last season, Lundqvist was among the league's best in goals against average (2.43), save percentage (.916), wins (38), games played (70) and saves (2,007).
“Henrik is one of the best goaltenders in the league and is obviously one of the most popular players in his native Sweden,” said Steve Jones, Global Brand Director, Bauer Hockey. “To add a player of Henrik's caliber to our growing roster of goaltenders clearly demonstrates that we are once again a goal company. We have focused significant resources on this category and we look forward to adding Henrik's feedback and expertise to make us even stronger.”
Lundqvist joins other top Bauer Hockey goaltenders including 2009 Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leaf Vesa Toskala. Other top members of the Bauer Hockey roster include fellow countrymen Nicklas Backstrom as well as Patrick Kane, Eric Staal, Jordan Staal and Evgeni Malkin, to name just a few.
