Johnson Outdoors, Inc. announced that it is exiting its Eureka product lines. The products will remain available for sale as it winds down operations, with plans to fulfill all customer requirements through the end of 2024.

Eureka! makes tents, camping furniture, camp stoves and accessories. Johnson Outdoors acquired the business in 1973.

“After careful and thoughtful consideration, we have decided to increase our focus on the opportunities in the Jetboil franchise and our strong position in the cooking segment. This was a very tough decision, but the right decision to make for the good of the company and its long-term success,” said Helen Johnson-Leipold, chairman and CEO.

“We expect this will negatively impact company sales by less than 1 percent for fiscal 2024. Additionally, the company expects to take a charge of approximately $4 million in fiscal year 2023 related to this decision,” said David Johnson, CFO.

Eureka is part of Johnson Outdoors’ Camping segment, which also includes the Jetboil outdoor cooking systems business. Sales in the Camping segment last year grew 12 percent to $70.4 million.

The Eureka! brand journey into the outdoors began in 1895 with products ranging from rugged canvas wagon covers and horse blankets to custom camp tents and store-front awnings – all crafted in the brand’s Binghamton, NY workshop.

Johnson Outdoors’ other brands include Old Town canoes and kayaks; Carlisle paddles; Minn Kota trolling motors, shallow water anchors and battery chargers; Cannon downriggers; Humminbird marine electronics and charts; and ScubaPro dive equipment.
