Signa Sports United N.V. (SSU) announced plans to appoint Anthonie Anbeek, most recently CEO of Accell Group, to its Board of Directors, effective April 1, 2024.

Anbeek left Accell Group, the parent company of Haibike, Winora, Ghost, Batavus, Koga, Lapierre, Raleigh, Sparta, Babboe, and Carqon, in March, nearly eight months after the takeover by investment companies KKR and Teslin.

While at Accell Group, Anbeek helped to grow the company as a leader in Europe’s e-bike industry and steered the company during the pandemic, cumulating in the sale of the business in a take-private transaction. His strategic insights into the bike industry, capital markets experience and leadership attributes were noted to complement the skills of SSU’s board of directors with his management guidance in a challenging environment.

Mike Özkan, Chairman of Signa Sports United, commented, “We are privileged to welcome Anbeek to our Board of Directors. His wealth of experience, strategic capabilities and passion for the sports and bicycle industry are invaluable assets as we are returning our business to profitable growth.”

In response to his appointment, Anbeek said, “It is my great pleasure to be asked to join the board of SSU. I have known SSU since the end of 2017 and have followed the company’s success ever since with great interest. I am very motivated to contribute to the further development of SSU’s future growth.”
