The Golf Datatech National Golf Rounds Played report showed that in March, golf rounds played varied vastly between regions, with participation in the Mountain, East North Central, South Central and South Atlantic regions decreasing and participation increasing in the Pacific, West North Central, New England and Mid-Atlantic regions.

 

According to the report, national golf rounds played in the U.S. were up 1.4% in April 2009 vs. April 2008, bringing the year-to-date total to an increase of 2.0% from last year’s overall results.


The Mountain region reported the largest decline in rounds played with a 6.0% drop from last year’s April rounds, while the New Englad region saw a 9.5% increase in rounds played.


Other results included: Pacific (3.1%), West North Central (18.5%), East North Central (-1.5%), Mid-Atlantic (6.1%), South Atlantic 

(-1.7%) and South Central (-1.9%).


PGA Performance findings released the prior week indicated that rounds played for April were down 1.6% (SEW_0922).
