Ken Meehan, executive vice president of Dunhams Sports, has been
elected to a three-year term on the National Sporting Goods Association
(NSGA) Board of Directors, filling a vacancy created by the retirement
from the Board by Curt Munson, president of Playmakers, Inc., Okemos,
Mich. Waterford, Mich-based Dunhams has been an NSGA member since 1977.
“Ken Meehan is a highly respected retailer, whose experience in the
industry makes him well qualified to sit on the NSGA Board of
Directors,” said NSGA Chairman of the Board Bob Dickman, general
manager of the Sport Supply Group Team Dealer Division. “Ken has been
an active participant in the industry and NSGA activities for many
years, and we know he will make a positive contribution to the
Association as a Director.”
Meehan has more than 35 years experience in merchandise management and
marketing, in both the mass merchandise and sporting goods industries.
He is a member of the board of directors of Nations Best Sports and an
editorial advisor to such publications as Sporting Goods Business and
Sports Insight. His mass merchant experience includes J.C. Penney,
Zodys, TG&T Stores and McCrorys, along with 20 years experience
in the sporting goods industry.
Meehans term will commence on June 1.
