Rounds of golf played in March 2023 were down about 2.3 percent in March on a national level year-over-year and are now down 0.2 percent for the year, according to Golf Datatech.
Last year, March rounds were down 14 percent.
By region in March, declines were seen in West North Central, down 10.2 percent; Mountain, 14.4 percent; Pacific, 10 percent; New England, 3.8 percent; and South Central, 1.2 percent. Gains were seen in East North Central, up 10.3 percent; Mid Atlantic, 5.1 percent; and South Atlantic, 3.3 percent.
The pace of golf rounds played continues to normalize after receiving a surge during the earlier stages of the pandemic. Golf rounds played were down 3.7 percent in 2022, grew 5.5 precent in 2021 and jumped 13.9 percent in 2020.
