Dick’s Sporting Goods reported signing a multi-year agreement to be the official retail sponsor of the Boston Marathon and the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) Distance Medley events ahead of opening a Dick’s House of Sport in spring 2024.
Dick’s announced plans earlier this year it would open a Dick’s House of Sport in the former Lord & Taylor building at 760 Boylston Street in the Prudential Center in Boston, a short distance from the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
Dick’s agreement with the B.A.A. begins with the 2023 Boston Marathon on April 17. Dick’s is also the presenting sponsor of the Boston Marathon Fan Fest, a three-day festival held before race day.
As part of the agreement, Dick’s will also be the retail sponsor of B.A.A. events, including the Boston Marathon, B.A.A. 5K and 10K, and the B.A.A. Half Marathon. Dick’s and the B.A.A. will also develop community engagement initiatives year-round.
Timed with the agreement and the 127th Boston Marathon, Dick’s hung a building-length “Sports Change Lives” banner on Boylston Street, the future home of Dick’s House of Sport, with the tagline “Running Boston Changes You.”
Dick’s House of Sport Boston, at 100,000-plus square feet, will include in-store experiences and a climbing wall, HitTrax batting cages and golf bays with TrackMan simulators.
