Clarus Corp., in a regulatory filing, said John Walbrecht, company president, mutually agreed with the company to terminate employment effective March 31.
The company and Walbrecht entered into a separation agreement that provided for his general release and contained confidentiality, non-solicitation and non-disparagement covenants, including a non-compete with the company or its subsidiaries for one year.
The filing did not provide a reason for Walbrecht’s departure.
In November, Clarus Corp. slashed its guidance for its fiscal year as demand for its Precision Sport segment, led by Sierra and Barnes, was offset by softer sales in its Adventure segment, which includes Rhino-Rack and Maxtrax. The Outdoor segment, led by Black Diamond, saw product demand but was impacted by supply chain challenges and reduced open-to-buys from larger accounts.
Clarus’ fourth-quarter sales were down 12 percent.
On February 2, Clarus appointed Neil Fiske as brand president for the Black Diamond Equipment brand.
Walbrecht had been Clarus’ president since March 9, 2018. Previously, he had been with Clarus for 18 months as president of the company’s Outdoor Group. His past roles included president and CEO of Mountain Hardwear and president and CEO of Fenix Outdoor.
