Timed with Spring,Trew launched its LW 3L collection for backcountry touring. The outerwear capsule, featuring Le Skieur LW Anorak and the LW Bib, was created in collaboration with Swiss professional mountain guide Gilles Sierro and the first product release from the Trew Gear Experimental Division, a new business unit showcasing innovation.
“Trew has always been obsessed with finding and developing the best materials for the occasion. We created the Trew Gear Experimental Division to cast away commercial restraints and work with our athletes to deliver the most focused and innovative product possible for life in the mountains. Launching snow outerwear in spring may be unconventional, but a spring-specific touring kit is what our skiers requested. We couldn’t be more excited to enjoy the next few months at high altitude,” explained Chris Pew, founder of Trew.
Trew ambassador Gilles Sierro spends over 125 days a year guiding in the backcountry system. The LW 3L collection moves quickly through the mountains without distraction. Technical features, including pockets and vents, work “seamlessly” with a backpack, climbing harness, radio, and other alpine gear.
The new 3L7D fabric has a 20k waterproof rating and 30k breathability rating.
Le Skieur LW Anorak results from a two-year collaboration with Sierro and Trew’s Experimental Division. The prompt was to reimagine an ultralight touring shell to Gilles’ specifications which include a two-way center front zipper, side zipper for entry and large venting, long, straight fit for added weather protection and movement, horizontal chest pocket optimized for radio, vertical chest pocket fits large items, two interior mesh pockets, seamless integration with a backpack, extra high collar and an adjustable hood, 3L7D ultralight 3L fabrication, 20k wp / 30k breathable, ripstop nylon shell, and 7d circular knit backing. Colorways: Anthracite/Alpine Moss and Anthracite/Purps.
LW Bib in Anthracite or Alpine Moss is made with two new hardshell fabrications—3L7D ultralight, waterproof shell and Vectran reinforced instep protection. Featuring an adjustable cuff with Fidlock magnetic closures, the LW Bib can be tightened around boots while climbing and then relaxed for a more comfortable downhill fit. The storage options are minimal. The bib’s upper features two options for a transceiver, and the hand pockets fit with a harness. Outseam vents allow for maximum airflow and the ability to remove layers while wearing boots.
Specs include articulated legs for a full range of motion, large outseam vents, stretch-woven bib upper, left and right-side abdomen transceiver pockets with D-ring, Fidlock adjustable magnetic closures at boot cuff, Vectran liquid crystal polymer reinforcement at instep, 3L7D ultralight 3L fabrication, 20k wp / 30k breathable, ripstop nylon shell, breathable membrane, and 7d circular knit backing
