Kohl’s Corp. reported Wednesday that it is eliminating 60 positions in the marketing and merchandising departments at its headquarters in Menomonee Falls, WI.
“Today, Kohl’s reorganized parts of our organization to drive greater efficiency in our operations,” said Jen Johnson, Kohl’s senior vice president, in a statement attained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “These efforts, which primarily impacted marketing and merchandising teams, reorganized some leadership roles and positions, including the elimination of less than 60 positions.
“We put a great deal of planning into this decision and are offering a competitive severance package and out-placement services to all those affected. We appreciate the many contributions of the impacted associates, and we thank them for their dedication and service to Kohl’s.”
The layoffs come as Kohl’s has recently struggled amid a consumer slowdown and has absorbed extensive markdowns to rebalance inventories.
Sales declined 6.6 percent in the first nine months of 2022.
