StockX released its annual report, Big Facts: Current Culture Index, noting that it surpassed 1.5 million lifetime sellers, 12 million lifetime buyers, and 40 million lifetime trades in 2022. The company also released the metrics around its verification process, noting that in 2022, StockX turned away nearly $100 million of product that did not meet its verification standards.
In 2022, international sellers accounted for nearly 50 percent of all StockX trades, up about 25 percent since 2021.
“Our seller community thrived this year, and even with a tough economic backdrop, demand for current culture products didn’t waver,” said Scott Cutler, StockX CEO. “2022 brought new wins for our business as we posted record revenue and trades and served our community of buyers and sellers around the globe. Even as the world faces an uncertain climate in 2023, we’re committed to putting in the work and making the necessary investments to continue delivering a best-in-class experience to our global customer base.”
Highlights from StockX’s 2023 Current Culture Index include:
- Top-traded sneaker brands remained consistent, but rising brands Salomon (+2,277 percent) and Hoka (+713 percent) had year-over-year trade gains. The Jordan 11 Retro Cherry had more release-week trades than any other sneaker in 2022.
- Fear of God clinched the No. 1 spot in the apparel category, knocking Supreme from the top spot for the first time in StockX history. Growth brands in the apparel space included Moncler (+511 percent) and Aimé Leon Dore (+265 percent), climbing 33 and 21 spots, respectively.
- Supreme and Telfar held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on StockX’s list of top-traded accessory brands for the second year in a row, but the fastest-growing brands were Swatch and New Era. Swatch secured 7,416 percent year-over-year trade growth from its collaboration with Omega, while New Era results (+720 percent) stemmed from collaborations with Takashi Murakami and Fear of God.
- Lego climbed two spots on the company’s list to the No. 1 top-traded collectibles brand. Bearbrick landed at No. 2, followed by Kaws at No. 3.
