Adidas confirmed that it is consolidating its operations in the U.S. and Canada, according to Retail Insider.
Adidas said, “We combined our teams in the United States and Canada to work most effectively and ensure we are positioned for continued success in an ever-changing marketplace.
“In the past, these teams have operated separately as two separate markets. Therefore, this reorganization will allow for more speed and cohesion across the North American market. The implementation of these changes has started and will be completed by spring. Business operations will be conducted primarily from our U.S. headquarters in Portland, OR.
“Unfortunately, this will result in a reduction in our Canada-based corporate workforce. We sincerely thank our entire team in Canada for their many contributions to Adidas. We are committed to having an open dialogue with affected employees and to supporting all of our employees during the transition to our new integrated One NAM organization.
“The decision has no impact on the availability of Adidas products to consumers in Canada. Consumers in Canada can continue to buy Adidas products online, in our retail stores and from our wholesale partners.
“We thank Alim Dhanji for his contributions to Adidas. As GM for Canada, Alim has delivered strong results over the past two years. His growth mentality, innovation and leadership qualities have positioned the Canadian team for continued success. We wish him all the best.”
Alim Dhanji, the former president of Adidas Canada, on December 16, was named Chief People Officer of Equinox Group.
