Asics H1 Sales Climb 14%, But Net Drops 9%

Asics reported revenues rose 14.2% in the first half ended Sept. 30 to ¥124.21 billion ($1.17 bn) from ¥108.74 billion ($912.3 mm), but net income slid 9.0% to ¥7.54 billion ($71.1 mm) from ¥8.29 billion ($69.6 mm).


Gross margins eroded to 42.9% of sales from 44.6% last year.
Sales in the United States increased 3.0% to ¥27.66 billion ($260.8 mm) for the first half, but strong growth in Japan and areas outside the U.S. drove the top-line gains. Sales to Europe declined 4.2% to ¥35.05 billion ($330.5 mm), but sales to Japan increased 23.1% to ¥49.01 billion ($462.1 mm) and sales to the Rest of the World jumped 127% to ¥12.49 billion ($117.8 mm).
