Fenix Outdoor, based in Switzerland, reported sales grew 30 percent in the first quarter to €165.2 million ($174 mm) from €127.1 million a year ago.

EBITDA rose 18.0 percent to €30.8 million against €26.1 million a year ago. Net profit came to €12.7 million against €9.6 million a year ago.

In the Brands segment, sales reached €47 million against €37.6 million, a gain of 25 percent. EBITDA was €21.2 million against €17.5 million a year ago.

The Brands segment includes the wholesale operations of Fjällräven, Tierra, Primus, Hanwag, and Royal Robbins. It also includes the retail and e-commerce operations of those brands.

In the Frilufts retail segment, sales grew 42.0 percent to €64.6 million against €45.5 million a year ago. EBITDA was €300,000 against a loss of €1.4 million. The segment includes the company’s retail groups, including Naturkompaniet AB, Partioaitta Oy, Globetrotter Ausrüstung GmbH, Friluftsland A/S, Naturkompaniet AS, and Trekitt.

In the Global sales segment, sales were €53.6 million against €44.0 million a year ago, up 21.8 percent. EBITDA came to €10.3 million versus €9.6 million a year ago. The segment includes distribution companies selling more than one Fenix Outdoor brand.
