Giant Bicycles is opening its first “Giant Bicycle Store” called Cycle Star this October in Santa Maria, CA. At the store, 90% of bicycles and parts and accessories will sold either be Giant only, or Giant distributed. Giant has partnered with Scott Clark, who has been running Mainstreet Cycles in Santa Maria since 1986, on the new concept.

Up to now, the company ahs operated Giant Retail Partner shops, which have been either “Breakaway” stores featuring select specific fixtures that highlight Giant products, or “Podium” stores, which have been completely designed from the floor to the ceiling with Giant-inspired color schemes, messaging, fixtures and lighting, according to the Bicycle Retailer trade magazine. There are 80 Breakaway and Podium stores currently in the Giant retail network, with 10 more in the planning stages or about to open. These stores carry other bicycle brands as well as Giant.

According to Bicycle Retailer, Clark decided to open his second store in Santa Barbara with Giant Bicycles after another shop in town, which had been a Giant retailer, was going out of business.
