The Conservation Alliance has added three staff members to the organization and four members to its Board of Directors.

Shoren Brown joins the Alliance as Government Affairs & Advocacy Director with a background in building and running national conservation campaigns and campaigns across the West. Prior to his appointment, Brown consulted with non-governmental organizations, private corporations and charitable foundations. In this role, Brown will define and lead its advocacy strategy and amplify its business voice for conservation in Washington, D.C. and North America.

Alie Kouzoukian and Allison Hartz join the non-profit as a dedicated communications team. Kouzoukian, a creative and digital manager, is a senior creative who recently worked at Keen for five years. Hartz brings nine years of marketing and strategic communication in the outdoor industry and has a background in environmental law and policy as a communications director. The two will support the organization’s program area strategies and serve its member companies and grantees to bring a business voice to conservation.

The newest Board members include Carol Shu, Erik Burbank, Annie Nyborg, and Soraya Shattuck. The appointments were made to help the organization expand its reach to new industries and audiences.

  • Shu works as senior manager, global sustainability, The North Face, where her work ranges from retail waste to sustainable products and materials. She collaborates with cross-functional teams across the brand to action on TNF’s sustainability strategy and goals.
  • Burbank is an environmentally engaged global brand and business builder with 25 years in the active lifestyle/outdoor industry having worked with Nike, Timberland, Helly Hansen, and Keen.

Shattuck will serve a three-year term until 2024 with the option of serving a second term.
