Johnson Outdoors UK announced two new appointments to the sales team. Maurice McGlade has joined the company as an agent for marine electronics for the whole of Ireland. In the UK, Chris King is the new agent for marine electronics for the south coast of England and is also the agent for watercraft in the south east of the country.
“As a rapidly expanding company we have an outstanding portfolio of world leading brands and a comprehensive range of recreational products. Im very pleased to extend our sales coverage of the UK and Ireland with such knowledgeable and experienced people,” commented Andrew Dron, Managing Director of Johnson Outdoors UK.”
Both the new agents have considerable experience of the marine industry and the outdoor recreational market. The companies Maurice has worked for include Mark Dowland Marine, Silva and Holt. “Im delighted to be working with Johnson Outdoors and be handling brands such as Humminbird, Minn Kota and Cannon,” he said, adding: “The marine industry in Ireland has seen sustained growth in recent years. Luxury cruisers are selling very well and boat sales are buoyant with sports boats and RIBs. With a brand like Humminbird for example there is huge potential for chartplotting over here, particularly with the new compatible charting software from Navionics which covers coastal and inland waters in Ireland.”
While Ireland is seen as an expanding marine market, the south coast of England is already one of the busiest recreational marine areas in Europe. Chris King brings a wealth of experience to this sector and companies which he has worked for across retail and trade markets include Andark, Typhoon and Bainbridge International.
Chris is a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster and fully qualified instructor for sailing, windsurfing and powerboating. He has also worked in the diving industry for many years, is a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and BSAC Sport Diver and trains dive equipment technicians. “Johnson Outdoors UK is a rapidly expanding company which offers highly marketable products and this should be a very exciting season for us,” he said
