QVC and GSI Commerce Inc. report success from their recent partnership to sell NFL merchandise through QVC.com. The partnership reports that the 20th anniversary of QVC's “Today's Special Value” television program resulted in more than 9,000 customized NFL team jerseys ordered on QVC.com in a single day.

“This is a true multichannel success story,” said Robert Myers, senior vice president of QVC.com. “The NFL customized jersey presented us with a terrific opportunity to leverage the strengths of our on-air and online channels. On air we were able to create excitement and awareness in a way that few retailers can, and online we were able to provide the customer with the ability to preview their customized jersey before purchasing it.”

“This multichannel effort resulted in a GSI record for the most NFL jerseys sold in a single day,” said Bob Liewald, GSI executive vice president of merchandising. “We more than doubled our initial sales estimate.”

Earlier this year, QVC and GSI entered into a strategic alliance to create a new, multichannel marketing opportunity for NFL-licensed products. Under terms of the agreement, QVC became the NFL's “official television retailer” and is scheduled to host multiple NFL-themed shows as part of its television programming this fall. The QVC programming “kicked off” with the start of the 2007 football season and will include the playoffs and Super Bowl. Leveraging the successful e-commerce partnership GSI has established with the NFL for operating NFLShop.com, GSI is the exclusive provider of NFL-licensed merchandise to QVC.
