adidas has reached an agreement to sponsor the 2012 summer Olympics in
London. The deal is valued at $99.6 million, and is expected to be
formally announced on Thursday during a press conference featuring U.S.
sprinters Tyson Gay and Allyson Felix. Both Americans are sponsored by
adidas.
The events planned include turning the Millennium Bridge, across the
Thames between Bankside and St Pauls, into a 100m race track where Gay
and Felix will be joined by 20 12-year-olds.
The agreement with London 2012 will see Adidas provide more than 1.4
million products to federations, volunteers, officials and others. It
will be the third consecutive Games that Adidas has fulfilled this role.
Adidas will become London 2012s third major partner, following Lloyds/TSB and energy firm EDF.
