According to local papers, Port clerks and their employers at the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports have inked a new deal that should prevent a threatened strike. This new deal should also prevent late deliveries of fall and back-to-school product.
The International Longshore and
Warehouse Union threatened to honor picket lines if a contract is not
reached soon for the 750 clerks that have been working without a
contract since July 1 of this year. LA and Long Beach collectively make up the largest port complex in the U.S. The Union tentatively agreed on a new contract Thursday.
