Diversified Communications, organizer of The Running Event (TRE), announced it has canceled TRE, scheduled to take place December 1-3 in Austin, TX, due to health concerns stemming from COVID-19.
“Each year, we look forward to bringing the entire run specialty community together and are very disappointed we will not be able to do so this December,” said Brian Cuthbert, group vice president, Diversified Communications.
The Running Event plans to return to Austin in 2021 from November 30—December 2.
“We are hard at work re-imagining other ways our events can best serve the industry, especially with the challenges retailers and race directors have faced since COVID-19 hit,” said Christina Henderson, executive director of The Running Event.
The Running Event organizers plan to solicit insights from attendees in the coming days on ways to have a safe and productive event in light of COVID-19.
“We are exceedingly grateful for the continued support from everyone in the run specialty industry as we navigate these difficult times and look forward to the next time we can all meet again in-person,” continued Henderson.
