GSI Commerce Inc. signed a long-term agreement with the National Basketball Association to provide the NBA, the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the NBA Development League (the NBA's minor league), with full-service, e-commerce operations for their online stores, including online merchandising, e-commerce technology, order processing, logistics, customer care, and online retail marketing services.

With the NBA's selection of GSI, the company now has e-commerce agreements to operate the online stores for the major professional sports leagues in the United States including, Major League Baseball, the NFL, the NHL, and NASCAR.

“GSI is the leading e-commerce operator for professional sports leagues,” said Sal LaRocca, NBA executive vice president, Global Merchandising. “GSI's experience and innovation will allow the NBA to provide our fans with an enhanced shopping experience in our effort to offer fans around the world the most comprehensive assortment of NBA products.”

“We are very proud to add the NBA as an e-commerce partner and look forward to supporting the NBA brand, serving their dedicated fans and growing their online business,” said Damon Mintzer, executive vice president of sales for GSI Commerce. “The NBA's selection of GSI is a tribute to the leadership position we have earned in delivering quality end-to-end e-commerce solutions to the professional sports leagues.”

A redesigned online store with an expanded assortment of merchandise is scheduled to launch on the GSI platform this fall, ahead of the 2007-08 season tip-off. The new online store will feature enhanced customer shopping features such as mini-cart(sm), express shop(sm), parametric search, advanced product reviews and ratings, and multiple alternative payment options.

In addition to operating on GSI's e-commerce platform and integrating the online store with the NBA's content site, the NBA will use GSI for online marketing, which will include search, affiliate marketing, and marketing with comparison shopping engines.
